2016 will be the year of changes. Not only ‘New Year resolution’ wise, but also just in my normal life. Big things are going to happen like my graduation, hopefully traveling to Thailand and there’s a chance that I have to move houses. I don’t have control on everything that’s going to happen in 2016, but I will try to make the best of every situation. Of course I made myself some goals for this year. I don’t want to call it my New Year resolutions, but life goals, because it sounds less scary. Which is hopefully something I can stick with for the rest of this year. Continue Reading
Happy New Year my friends! May the new year that follows be the best you have ever had. What do you wish for in this new year?
‘Wish’ is maybe not the best word to use in this sentence, because we are in the driving seat of our life. So we have to take responsibility for our actions. 2016 will be the year for me that I’m going to make things happen, instead of wishing for something to happen. I’m tired of waiting for things to happen, which of course has no point of doing. I’m going to take control of my life and I hope you’re with me.
One of my resolutions for this year is to blog more regularly. If you follow me on Twitter, you may know that I ‘struggle’ with the fact I want to write about more than just travel. Traveling is something I love to do and love to write about, but it isn’t something I’m able to do a lot. As you may know I’m a teacher and I’m also still in university, which means I’m not able to travel whenever I want to. There’s so much more in my life what makes me happy and that’s something I also want to write about.
That’s why I want to share with you the change I’m going to make in this upcoming months. My blog will still be a travel blog, but with a more personal touch. This personal touch will be the other things what makes me happy in life, like baking or my love for makeup. I just want to write about happy things, which gives me positive energy and hopefully inspires and motivates you to do whatever you want.
Of course nobody, but myself, has given a label to my blog. It’s just because everybody is talking about creating your own niche and choosing your subject. This is an example of me caring to much about what other people think, something I really want to stop doing this year. Everybody is going to have an opinion and I need to let this fear go. This is something I want to work on this year and this is also something you’ll see in my upcoming content.
I hope I informed you enough about the changes that will happen on my site. And for now; Happy New Year!
Lately there’s some hate about social media, because people claim that social media is fake. I don’t agree with this statement, because I don’t think social media is fake. In my opinion social media is a perfect way to express yourself and your creativity. I love to use Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to express my feeling and to share my travels with the world. Of course most of the times it’ll be the highlights of my life, but nobody will be happy if you’re only complaining on social media. I agree about the fact some accounts can be a bit fake, in the way they’ll promote everything they are getting money for. If people are doing that, I probably unfollow them really quickly. The only downside of social media is the fact some people aren’t aware of this. So I think the publicity around this subject is great to raise awareness. When you’re are aware of this, you can form your own opinion on this topic. Like I said, I love to use social media to express myself and my creativity. That’s why I love to use Instagram and that’s why I made this post. In this post I share my top 5 favorite pictures from my Instagram.
Skyline of Frankfurt. I didn’t expect Frankfurt to be that beautiful. It has a lovely old centre, but it has also a beautiful skyline of the financial centre. This skyline and a sunset is the perfect combination for a beautiful picture.
You don’t need to travel to make a beautiful picture. This picture is made just around the corner of the street I live in. You have to appreciate what you have, so that means also your neighborhood. I’m sure there are many beautiful places around you.
Whitsunday Islands in Australia. Everything over there is perfect for a picture. I would love to go back!
Made in Auschwitz-Birkenau, Poland. Such an awful place with an awful story.
Also at the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. I think this picture has a perfect scenery and it has again a lovely sunset.
What’s your opinion about social media? Do you think it’s fake?
As a geographer with a love for travel it’s impossible to not even think about the issues we have in the world. Political tensions, war, global warming, pollution and even health problems. Everything has its connections with geography and I’m not only interested in this, but it gives you also a helpless feeling for what’s happening in the world. Luckily I’m not the only one on this planet who thinks like me about this subject and I just needed to share this. It’s a German song from SIDO, called Astronaut. You don’t need to speak German to understand this song, but this is the link to the translation of the song.
I just wanted to share this to give our self some thinking material. We can’t change the world by ourself, but we either can’t change the world unless we change ourselves.
Listening to – Q-music (radio). I still listen a lot to my favorite band (Epica), but lately I’m also listening to newer music at the radio. Q-music is one of the biggest radio stations of the Netherlands with the newest hits. I love to listen to it while I’m driving the car or when I’m doing school work. Continue Reading
A lot of people have a bucket list and so do I, but there are also thing I really don’t want to do in my life. Things I’m scared of, things I stand for or just things I don’t want to do. So here is my anti-bucket list! Continue Reading
I have something with Asia. Some people have it with South-America, some with Africa, I have it with Asia. To be a bit more specific; South-East Asia. If I had the money and time (oh, no excuses!), I definitely bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok to travel further through South-East Asia. Sadly both are a bit rare for me nowadays, so for now it’s still a dream. But I’m trying to make it happen as soon as possible! So which Asian countries can you find on my bucket list? I’m coming to a certain point in life where I have to decide what I want to do with my life. The only thing I know is the fact I’m not ready to settle completely. Doing a master study is something I always wanted, so that’s something I think I want to do next year. The problem is that I’m interested in many, many studies, so this makes it only harder to decide what I want. I have a lot of interests, like social geography, physical geography, political geography, environmental changes, health issues, multi-media.. I have sort of the same problem with my blog; I want to share so many things, that I don’t know what to blog about. But that’s something else, so moving on.. Continue Reading
