2016 will be the year of changes. Not only ‘New Year resolution’ wise, but also just in my normal life. Big things are going to happen like my graduation, hopefully traveling to Thailand and there’s a chance that I have to move houses. I don’t have control on everything that’s going to happen in 2016, but I will try to make the best of every situation. Of course I made myself some goals for this year. I don’t want to call it my New Year resolutions, but life goals, because it sounds less scary. Which is hopefully something I can stick with for the rest of this year.
No matter what it takes, I will graduate this year! I don’t care how much blood, sweat and tears it will take. One thing for sure, I have to start working my ass off and stop procrastinating.
2. Get fit and healthy
Probably this is on everyone’s list and it’s something which is always on my list. I tried many times, but I gave up every time. So what I want to do now, is start swimming again. This is something I love to do, so why not doing it. I also want to start eating healthily again and hopefully lose some weight. Losing weight is definitely a goal for 2016, but I don’t want to focus on my weight. I want to become fitter and healthier, and weight is just a number.
3. Travel more often
I love traveling (Ooh, really..), but I didn’t travel as much as in 2014. One reason because I lost my job last summer, but also because of caring too much about what other people think about the fact I’m traveling that much. I have the feeling that I have to justify myself to the people around me and I have to thinking that. I just need to buy a ticket and go!
4. Start with something I truly love
Because I will graduate this year, it means there will be a new beginning. I’m not sure yet what this beginning will be, but I’m sure it has to be something I truly love to do. So it can be starting with a Master degree, start working a full time job or even something else. It just need to something I’m completely happy with.
5. Develop positive thinking patterns
I’m quite a negative person and this affects my happiness and my self-love a lot. I want to focus on the positive things in life, like things I’ve accomplished or love to do. Rather than the things I’ve could have done in the past and other ‘weaknesses’. I want to start living in the now and stop worrying about the past and the future. It’s easy said, but this will be a hard one.
6. Stop caring about what other people think
This goal is related to goal 3 and 5, but is definitely worth mentioning by itself. This is something I’m not alone with, so maybe we have to fight those thoughts together.
7. Go outside and do something
If I don’t have to work or have to go to school, I will be at home. There are a few rare moments in a week that I’m not at home. I just have to go outside and do something. In the fresh air or something with friends. Just do something different than sitting at home.
8. Keep improving my English skills
Last year I got my Cambridge Advanced English degree. I’m so happy with it, because at secondary school English was always my worst subject. Teachers told me I would never be able to make myself clear in this languages and who had guessed I would have an official English degree now! It’s still not perfect and I definitely have to work hard to become fluently in this languages, but I will take this as a challenge.
9. Adopt a puppy..
.. if we have the opportunity and the right resources to have a dog.
10. Sharing more (quality) content on Scratching The Map
I love writing and that’s why I have this blog. I want to blog more about the things I love in life, next to my usual travel posts. This is something I already mentioned in my last post and I want to stick to that.
